BRAND INTELLIGENCE
Coup has the insights before the brief.
Make better brand decisions before you commit to large investments.
Coup Intelligence combines a close examination of your business with our AI-powered database of more than 100,000 influential local and international brands. It gives you a much wider view of the market than a conventional competitor review.
We use that evidence to find commercial opportunities before you invest in a new brand, rebrand, product, packaging, campaign, or experience.
At scale, patterns become visible. You can see how brands compete, what customers value, where competitors are crowding around the same ideas, and where there is still room to stand apart.
The result is your Brand Opportunity.
It identifies the strongest opportunities available to the brand, the evidence behind them, and what they could mean for the business.
For an established business, that might uncover an advantage the brand is underusing, show that a once-distinctive position has become crowded, reveal a better way to organise the portfolio, or point to an opportunity the business has not yet considered.
For a new brand, it means understanding the market before serious money is committed to the name, identity, packaging, and launch.
For premium and luxury brands, it can reveal where the business has room to command a higher price, create stronger preference, or develop an offer that customers value more highly.
What you get
You leave with clear answers to difficult commercial questions.
Your Brand Opportunity sets out:
- The strongest opportunities we found
- The evidence behind them
- What customers care about
- Where the market leaves room to compete distinctively
- What each opportunity means for the brand, offer, and portfolio
- Where further investment is most likely to make a difference
- Which ideas are unlikely to justify the time or money
The recommendations are prioritised, so you know what deserves attention first.
The answer may point towards a substantial brand transformation, a new proposition, a stronger premium offer, a clearer portfolio, a new product opportunity, or an overlooked part of the business with more potential.
It may also show that something you were planning to change is better left alone.
Brand decisions become expensive quickly. Coup Intelligence gives you the evidence to make them before the money is committed.
Your Brand Opportunity can then become the basis for Brand Development, Brand Transformation, Packaging, Spaces & Experiences, Advertising & Activation, or a longer Brand Programme.
We find the opportunity first and build the brand from there.
How Brand Intelligence works
01. Understand the business
We start with the business, its ambitions, and the commercial context around the brand.
We speak with the people closest to it and look at the products, customers, markets, portfolio, growth plans, and investments already under consideration. This gives us the context needed to judge the brand against what the business is trying to achieve.
02. Examine the brand
We look at the brand in detail across the places customers actually encounter it.
That can include positioning, proposition, products, pricing, portfolio structure, identity, language, packaging, advertising, digital presence, and physical experience.
We identify what is working, what has become inconsistent, and which assets may have more value than the business is currently extracting from them.
03. Map the category
We compare the brand with its direct competitors and use Coup Intelligence to examine relevant brands across other markets and categories.
We look for repeated claims, positioning, visual conventions, product structures, price points, customer propositions, and other patterns.
This shows where competitors are clustering and where there is less competition.
04. Study customer choice
We examine who the business needs to attract, what those customers value, and what they are choosing between.
We consider the different occasions, needs, and alternatives that influence the decision, because the same brand can compete differently depending on why somebody is buying.
05. Test the opportunities
The strongest openings are tested against the evidence.
We look at whether there is room in the market, whether customers have a reason to care, whether the business has a credible right to pursue the opportunity, and what competitors could easily copy.
Weak ideas are discarded. Strong ones are developed further.
06. Set the priorities
The findings are brought together in the Brand Opportunity.
We show which opportunities deserve attention, what they would require from the brand, and where investment is most likely to have an effect.
The recommendations are prioritised so the business knows what to address first and what can wait.
